Small Business Saturday Wrap Up

Whew! I am finally sitting down after a pretty busy weekend and a successful Small Business Saturday. Thank you to everyone who stopped by, made a purchase of something I’ve created and chatted. It was a lovely day catching up with folks and I’m so happy I got to see you!

Some of the popular items that flew out of the doors were paintings, cards, handmade ornaments and a few bookmarks. It really is amazing how just the smallest purchase from a small business makes a difference. Seriously. It truly does make someone like me, who puts their all into their business, a very happy and appreciative purchase.

Have you ever seen those social media posts that say, “When you buy from a small business, there’s someone doing a happy dance.”? Totally true. It makes a huge difference to those of us who do all we a with our talents and passions to make this work against the big companies every single day. Sure, it’s easy to buy something on Amazon or make a quick stop at Walmart. I do it all the time. But I never feel the sense of giving more than when I buy something at my local general store or at one of the craft booths at the holiday bazaar. The feeling of gratitude you receive from the owners and makers is what makes that purchase so worthwhile.

This is another worthwhile reminder when you purchase from a small business:

I’m still in the “team jersey” mode of things with my kiddos and all their activities. I’ve got a special needs English Bulldog that needs some pretty heavy duty veterinarian assistance regularly. Gotta kid getting ready to head to college in the next year. And… my little business money helps to buy a dinner or two for the nights out when we get home so late from practices, still have piles of homework and laundry, to get a little McDonald’s take out to help save time!

You might not think it’s a big deal, but it is. It really is. And I’m so appreciative of you. Of all of you that have purchased online AND in-person. It means so much and I am so thankful for your support!
