Valentine’s Mixed Media Projects

Valentine's Day, on February 14th, has ancient Roman origins tied to the Lupercalia festival, which celebrated love and fertility. Over time, it became a day for romantic expressions, especially in the Middle Ages. By the 18th century, people began exchanging handwritten cards filled with poems and art. This practice has since grown into the widespread exchange of mass-produced Valentine cards.

And that got my mind working. I have a few people that I wanted to make something for for Valentines Day. Just a little something to send out to them and brighten their day. So after perusing around Pinterest for a bit, I found a few pieces of inspiration to get me started and off I went with my canvases, paint, paper and glitter!

The final result? Two adorable mixed media canvas projects that I am planning on shipping off to my pen pal and a good friend. I adore how they turned out! And if you’re a member of The Creative Art Village, I’ve got a video over there sharing the process of these two projects.
