Art on OBX

Getting back into the swing of things here at home and I wanted to just pop on and give you a little look into what I worked on in my sketchbook during our family trip last week to Outer Banks, NC (OBX).

It was a lovely week, spent in a rental house on the coast with our own little dock where we enjoyed fishing, canoeing, kayaking and reading. It was wonderful to just unplug and be in a setting that allowed all of us the rest, relaxation and tranquility we craved after a very long summer of traveling for softball. Even though there was some rain, thanks to Hurricane Debby, we were able to get out and explore the Cape Hatteras shore and beaches, enjoy the most gorgeous sunsets and spend time unwinding in the comfort of our little rented cottage on the water.

I was able to spend some time daily in my watercolor sketchbook, working on some mindless little watercolor paintings. I’m so glad I brought a palette, pen, markers and colored pencils! It was so nice to just sit and be creative at the kitchen table or out on the deck, enjoying nature or the tapping of rain against the window.

How could you not be relaxed with this view! And a rainbow as well! It was a nice vacation that we all enjoyed but we sure are glad to be home in our own beds! Amazing how being away from home for a while can really make you appreciate it all the more when you return!
